# Add your secrets to Infisical

> Create a project, add your secrets, and choose how to deliver them to your application or infrastructure.

This quickstart walks you through the steps shared by every Infisical secrets delivery workflow. You'll create a [project](https://infisical.com/docs/documentation/platform/secrets-mgmt/project.md), add your secrets, and then continue with instructions for your application or infrastructure.

## Prerequisites

* An Infisical account on [Infisical Cloud](https://app.infisical.com) or a [self-hosted instance](https://infisical.com/docs/self-hosting/overview.md)

## Step 1: Configure in Infisical

### Create a project

In Infisical, a [project](https://infisical.com/docs/documentation/platform/secrets-mgmt/project.md) holds all secrets for one application or service. To create a project:

**Step 1**

Log in to [Infisical](https://app.infisical.com).

**Step 2**

Select **Secrets Management** > **+ Add New Project**.

**Step 3**

In the **Project Name** field, enter a name for the project (e.g., `orders-service`).

**Step 4**

Select **Create Project**.

This opens your new project in the **Development** environment:

> [!NOTE]
>
> Within a project, secrets are organized across [environments](https://infisical.com/docs/documentation/platform/secrets-mgmt/project.md#project-environments). Every new project starts with three environments: **Development**, **Staging**, and **Production**.

### Add your secrets

You have two options for adding secrets to your project:

> [tab] Create secrets manually
>
> To create a new secret from scratch:
>
> **Step 1**
>
> Select **+ Add a New Secret**.
>
> **Step 2**
>
> In the **Key** and **Value** fields, enter a key-value pair. For example:
>
> ![Create Secret panel](https://mintlify.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/infisical/snippets/documentation/platform/secrets-mgmt/assets/key-value-fields.png)
>
> **Step 3**
>
> Select **Create Secret**.
>
> **Step 4**
>
> Repeat these steps for each key-value pair you want to add.

> [tab] Import secrets from an existing file
>
> To import secrets from an existing file:
>
> **Step 1**
>
> Drag and drop the file containing your secrets (or enter the file's contents manually by selecting **Paste Secrets**).
>
> **Step 2**
>
> Review the discovered secrets. For example:
>
> ![Review secrets](https://mintlify.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/infisical/snippets/documentation/platform/secrets-mgmt/assets/review-secrets.png)
>
> **Step 3**
>
> In the **Target Environments** field, select the environments to upload the secrets to.
>
> **Step 4**
>
> Select **Upload Secrets**.

## Step 2: Connect to your stack

Select your application stack or runtime environment. Each guide covers the authentication and delivery method appropriate for that destination.
